ANTHONY RIVERA, JR.

FOR OFFICE OF CHAIRMAN

JUANEÑO BAND OF MISSION INDIANS

ACJACHEMEN NATION

This is a critical election for the Acjachemen People.  It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the Acjachemen People as your Tribal Chairman.  The last 4 years I have brought pride and dignity to the Acjachemen Nation by brining the Tribe into Active Status with the federal government, by returning the Tribe back into the hands of Acjachemen descendants, and by fighting daily for the rights of each Acjachemen Citizen.

I am proud of my track record as Tribal Chairman.  My dedicated service and defense of the Tribe includes over 10 trips to Washington, DC on behalf of our Petition, Expert Witness before the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, direct meetings on behalf of the Tribe with over 50 members of the U.S. Congress including the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House, Senate Majority Leader, Chairman of Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, and CA Senators and Congressmen.  As a Delegate to the National Congress of American Indians, I have authored and received unanimous sanction of the Tribe’s resolution.

In the next term, I will continue to work hard to bring benefits to our elders, education to our kids, and resources to all members.  I am dedicated to finish our Petition for Federal Recognition and establish the Federal Acjachemen Nation.

I am proud to have the endorsement of key tribal officials necessary to progress our Trial Government to the next level including the current Tribal Council Members, and Tribal Committee Heads.  I am proud to endorse Fran Yorba as Vice Chairwoman, Nathan Banda as Secretary/Treasurer, Chris M. Lobo as Member at Large, and Cecelia Martinez as Member at Large.  I would encourage all to cast a vote for these candidates who will work well with me to accomplish the Tribe’s goals.

As a great-great grandson of Donecia Rios and a descendant of Bernarda Chigila from the Village Putuidem in San Juan Capistrano, I have an extensive Acjachemen heritage of which I am proud.  I am also fortunate to have the support of my wife, Jill, and our three daughters Mariah, Cheyenne, and Sophia.  The only promise I can give is that I will continue to serve the People, and, as Chair, I will do my best to bring dignity and prosperity to the Acjachemen Nation.
